A Little Bit About Marc…

The Army Side Of Me

I’m very proud to say that I’m an Army Brat and a retired Army Officer. By the time I was 40, I had moved over 20 times, so you can pretty much say that change isn’t something I’m really afraid of.

Here’s a picture of my father and I presenting me with my certificate during the graduation parade of my Captains course. I’m very proud to call him my father; he’s my first mentor and a good old Army Sergeant and Vietnam veteran (yes Canada did send them there via the United Nations).

I was a Reserve Officer in the Canadian Army for over 20 years. Now that I’ve retired, I’m more than happy to take the time I currently have and share my marketing and sales experience with everyone.

The Civilian Side of Me

I’ve worn a lot of hats outside the Army too: Bank Manager, a Collections Officer for a legal department as well as a Business Consultant. I also worked with the Canadian Government’s immigration department and for the different levels of elections here in Canada; from City to Provincial to working with Elections Canada over several election cycles.

Quite the mix of experience to bring to the table.

So if you’re asking yourself: “So what’s with the microphone?” Well, a good friend of mine who is a Sound Engineer and has a recording studio, (who for the past 30 years + has also been my business partner) was in a bit of a bind and asked me if I wouldn’t record a voice-over work for him. I apparently did that so well that it became a side gig.

All of those roles taught me the same lesson from different angles: businesses rarely fail from a lack of good ideas. They fail from a lack of focus. For sales, for marketing, for actually turning strategy into results. That’s the gap I help close now as a marketing and sales consultant.

One last thing: none of this would’ve been possible without my wife, Anne-Marie. My father was right; behind every good soldier is an even better spouse. We’ve been married over 30 years, been through the good and the not-so-good together, and share a love of travel (the Army life gave us that) and cruising, preferably somewhere warm.

If you’re facing a growth problem in your business, I’d be glad to talk it through with you.
